Gabriel Macotela

Mexican painter, sculptor, and engraver with a style that seeks dynamism and fluidity that fill his pieces with depth that recalls the urban. He studied at La Esmeralda, and the San Carlos’ Academy, and with Gilberto Aceves. He was part of the mexican art movement called the Rupture, which was made up of Manuel Felguérez, , Lilia Carrillo, Kazuya Sakai, Arnaldo Coen, Pedro Coronel, and others.

His exhibits have gotten to the USA, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Spain, Germany, Portugarl, Belgium, Greece, and India. He has gotten awards by the 1st Cuenca’s Bienal at Ecuador, by the José Luis Cuevas Museums and the INBA.
